Homo Ebony and Tov Homo Ebony

Extra dark or "Homo" Ebony chinchilla. Ebony is not known to exist in a true homozygous state so the term can be misleading. A pure black ebony will still throw a standard baby. I use the term homo becuase it is easier to type than extra dark.


2023 - Been a long time since I posted photos of this color, they are exceptionally difficult to photograph because the black is very shiny.


2011 - Nice young Homo Ebony female in bright sunlight.


2011 - Sister to the girl above that is not quite pure black but very close.


2012 - Another young female.


Tov Homo Ebony Male from 2004.

It is difficult to tell if a pure black chinchilla is Tov. Some times the fur texture is a little different but often you have to wait until they throw a Tov baby.
